Year 2010 had been reasonably good for the Malaysian palm oil industry. Prices began an upward trend in the third quarter, recording a healthy increase of 30%, with reliable predictions that prices may continue to remain high through to the second quarter of 2011 – Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor, Chairman

Malaysian palm oil recorded a higher export volume, generating a total of RM59.77 billion in revenue for 2010. Total oil palm planted area recorded an increase of 3.47% from 4.69 million ha to 4.85 million ha in 2010. The production of crude palm oil  (CPO), however, fell by 3.25% or 0.57 million tonnes to 16.99 million tonnes. – Tan Sri Datuk Dr Yusof Basiron, Chief Executive Officer
