Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil obtained from the flesh of the oil palm fruit. It has wonderful health benefits including the following:

  1. Palm oil is essentially trans-fat free. Unlike other vegetable oils, it has a natural semi-solid properties that does not require hydrogenation to solidify it in food production. Palm oil is a suitable substitution to replace the use of partially hydrogenated oils as it is trans-fat free. In June 2015, US Food & Drugs Administration announced its decision that trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils should be phased out from the US food supply within 3 years.

  2. Palm oil is a type of vegetable oil, hence it is cholesterol free.  It helps raise beneficial HDL-cholesterol level and has a neutral effect on blood cholesterol in the body.

  3. Palm oil has a balanced ratio of unsaturated and saturated fatty acids, and is nutritionally balanced.

  4. Palm oil is easily digested, absorbed and utilised as a source of energy.  It promotes the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.

  5. Palm oil contains Vitamin E tocotrienols

  6. Palm oil has outstanding frying properties that includes being stable at high temperature.  Using oils that have low a smoking point will result in unhealthy oxidised oils in our food.

  7. Palm oil has a bland taste that imparts a desired taste neutrality.

  8. Palm oil contributes to heat stability, resistance to oxidation, texture and smoothness in food manufacturing. It extends the shelf life of your products and more importantly, contains no trans fatty acids.

  9. Palm oil is derived from a non-GMO crop.

  10. Palm oil is halal as it is of vegetable origin and therefore is suitable for vegans.
